Solid Digital earns money from paid links. This page explains exactly how that works, who pays, what it costs you, and what it does and does not influence.

The arrangement, stated plainly

Some links on this site are affiliate links. At present there is one such destination: the website of Star Stable Online. When a reader follows one of those links and goes on to create an account, the advertiser pays a commission to Beshine s.r.o., the company that publishes this site. The commission is paid by the advertiser out of its own marketing budget.

You are not charged for using the link. The price of anything you subsequently buy is the same whether you arrive through this site, through a search engine, or by typing the vendor’s address yourself. No fee, surcharge or membership is involved, and nothing on this site is sold to readers.

What the commission does not determine

• It does not determine what these pages say. The advertiser does not review, approve or edit the content here before it is published. Where a page recommends checking a price at the source, reading the cancellation route before subscribing, or looking a title up in the national classification register, that advice stands regardless of what it costs the publisher in conversions.
• It does not buy a rating or a ranking. There is none to buy. This site publishes no scores, no star ratings, no “best of” lists and no league tables, so there is no order for a payment to influence.
• It does not produce claims about the product. What this site states about Star Stable Online is limited to what the advertiser itself states: that it is an online horse-riding adventure game, playable on Windows, macOS and Linux desktops, on Android and iOS phones and on tablets, and that it requires an account to be created and activated before play begins. No prices, performance figures, feature lists or classifications are asserted here.
• It does not affect the Australian sources. The links to the ACCC, the eSafety Commissioner, the Australian Cyber Security Centre, Scamwatch, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the Australian Classification Board are unpaid, and go to those organisations’ own sites.

What it does determine

One thing, and it is the honest answer: scope. Star Stable Online is the product covered in detail on this site because there is a commercial relationship with its advertiser. Had there been no such relationship, this site would probably not exist in its present form. That is why the rest of the site is built as a method rather than a verdict — step six gives you twelve questions and the primary sources to answer them with, so that a reader who wants to evaluate any title, including this one, can do so without relying on the publisher’s judgement.

How to recognise a paid link here

• Every affiliate link sits in a bordered block with a disclosure line immediately beside it, in ordinary body text rather than small print.
• Every one is labelled as going to the vendor — “Visit the Star Stable Online website” — and opens in a new tab.
• Every one carries the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attribute, which is the standard machine-readable marking for a paid link.
• Every one points directly at the advertiser’s destination. There is no redirect on this domain, no link cloaking, no destination assembled by JavaScript when you click, and no interstitial page in between. The address your browser shows before you click is the address you go to.
• Paid links appear on four pages: the home page, step one, step four and step six. Every other page on this site is unpaid.

Why this page exists

Disclosure of a commercial relationship is a legal expectation as much as an editorial one. Under the Australian Consumer Law, conduct in trade that is misleading or deceptive is prohibited, and presenting paid promotion as though it were independent commentary is one of the clearer ways to fall foul of that. The ACCC publishes guidance on advertising and selling for businesses, and its position on disclosing commercial relationships in online content is not subtle. Beyond the law, a reader who discovers the arrangement after the fact has every reason to distrust everything else on the site — which is why it is on the home page, beside every link, and here.
